POLICY AND ADVOCACY

Multi-Cancer Early Detection

Paving the way for innovative technologies that can find more cancers early.

Legislative update:

The end-of-year stopgap funding bill does not include the Nancy Gardner Sewell Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act (H.R. 2407)/Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act (S.2085).

Despite this disappointment, we are proud of our collective efforts to make clear that the MCED Act is necessary for ensuring Medicare beneficiaries have access to innovative tests that can detect cancer early.

We remain committed to seeing this bill over the finish line in the upcoming 119th Congress. Your advocacy will be essential—will you join us?

When it comes to cancer, we need time on our side.

Multi-cancer early detection (MCED) is a groundbreaking new type of cancer screening test that utilizes advances in genomic science and machine learning to transform cancer detection. Over 500 organizations are advocating for seniors to be able to access MCED testing and other new technologies coming down the pike.

Today, routine screening is available for only five types of cancer, which leaves the vast majority of cancers without available screening tests. Finding cancer early leads to more effective, efficient treatment and a better quality of life for patients and their loved ones.
