In memory of Patrick Beauregard
مؤسسة الوقاية من السرطان® mourns the death of Patrick Beauregard, who died from colorectal cancer on September 6, 2020. He was 32.
In September 2017, just one month after getting married to his wife, Amanda, and returning from their honeymoon, Patrick was diagnosed with Stage IV colorectal cancer.
The diagnosis had been a surprise to Patrick, who was 29 and healthy, and to all who knew him. “Cancer, at that point, was the last thing on my mind,” he had said.
Patrick was a man of service: he served our country as an intelligence analyst in the United States Marine Corps for six years, and continued his acts of service by sharing his story to educate others on the alarming trend of young-onset colorectal cancer. His last years were spent fighting this disease, both as a patient and an advocate. Patrick dedicated much of his time these past three years to interviewing with media outlets, meeting with representatives on Capitol Hill, participating in fundraisers and partnering with organizations like the Prevent Cancer Foundation to call for better prevention, research, treatments and care.
“Pat was an extraordinary patient, and an even more extraordinary human being,” said Dr. Kimmie Ng, Patrick’s oncologist and the director of the Young-Onset Colorectal Cancer Center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. “He battled colon cancer with ferocity and courage, and endured endless treatments and clinical trials with grace, humility and kindness. He could have stopped there, but he didn’t. He chose to be a ferocious advocate for colorectal cancer awareness and research as well, and was instrumental in shaping and launching our Young-Onset Colorectal Cancer Center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. His life and story will be a legacy that will endure and that will save young lives in the future. He will be truly missed.”
We are forever grateful for Patrick’s work with us to raise awareness about young-onset colorectal cancer, and for the honor of knowing such a kind, selfless and determined individual. The Foundation is committed to continuing our work on young-onset colorectal cancer in Patrick’s memory.
Our heartfelt sympathies go out to his wife, their baby Noah, and all those who knew and loved Patrick.
