Heather Thompson Mackey

Heather Thompson Mackey is the Senior Director, Cancer Prevention and Early Detection for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. She serves as the internal clinical subject matter expert for the Foundation, helping to ensure that programming, educational materials and communications reflect evidence-based strategies that address health disparities. Heather has been an oncology nurse practitioner since 2001 with direct experience in cancer risk reduction and prevention. She received her DNP from UNC-Greensboro and her MSN from UNC-Chapel Hill. She is certified as an advanced oncology certified nurse (AOCN®) and adult nurse practitioner (ANP-BC). Heather is an active volunteer in the areas of health, wellness, women and children on the national and local level.  She and her family live in Kernersville, NC.
