Here are 10 tips to help you spice up your exercise routine to help you look forward to this time of your day.

1. Work out with a friend

Everything is more fun with a friend! Go to a yoga class, take a hike or try a video at home. If you don’t live close by, coordinate a time to do an online class together.

2. Try something new

YouTube is filled with free exercise videos. Mix it up—if you usually lift weights, try a cardio or dance workout. If you’d rather go in-person, many gyms and exercise studios offer a free first class or week of classes.

3. Get outside

Though you might not need 10,000 steps a day, getting outside for even a quick walk can be beneficial to your health. Exercising outdoors can have added health benefits, including for your mental health.

4. Start a wellness challenge in your office

A little competition is a great way to get extra motivation!

5. Set a goal and incentive

Sometimes extra motivation comes in the form of personal treats. Set a goal and timeline, such as exercising four days a week for a month. If you reach your goal, treat yourself to a healthy smoothie or new water bottle.

6. Pump up the music

Find or create a playlist of your favorite high-energy songs.

7. Try a different time of day

Sometimes you need to shake up your routine. If your post-work workout is dragging, consider a morning wake-up.

8. Try a recreational sport league

Explore your local rec center or private leagues for sports, such as basketball, soccer, pickleball or kickball.

9. Try shorter workouts

If you find it difficult to commit to 30 minutes at a time, try fitting shorter workouts into your schedule once or twice a day.

10. Give yourself a break

Sometimes what your body needs is a break. Be sure you are incorporating rest days so your muscles have time to recover.

Switching up your exercise routine can make a significant difference in your motivation and overall enjoyment. Remember, the key to a successful exercise routine is consistency and finding what works best for you. So, get creative, stay active and enjoy the journey to a healthier you!
