Tổng quan nghiên cứu

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men, yet information about screening available online is often confusing, inconsistent and difficult to understand. Our research aims to tackle this problem by evaluating the quality of online resources about prostate cancer screening and how they influence men’s decisions. We’ll survey men ages 40-69 across the United States to understand their attitudes toward prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing and trust in online information.

We will also analyze the reliability and readability of websites providing prostate cancer information through multiple frameworks. We hope to explore the relationship between patient attitudes toward PSA screening and the online information they consume, particularly focused on what types of interventions make patients feel more empowered in making decisions about prostate cancer screening.

Our goal is to ensure men have access to clear and accurate information so they can make informed health decisions. This work supports broader efforts to reduce prostate cancer deaths through improved screening and education.

My “Why”

My interest in cancer research stems from seeing the impact of prostate cancer on patients and families. I’m motivated to improve outcomes by focusing on all aspects of care, from prevention strategies to surgical techniques. There is a need for meaningful advances in prostate cancer prevention, detection and treatment through improved screening, education and evidence-based interventions. By combining clinical insights with innovative research, I aim to reduce the burden of this disease and enhance care for patients.

Tại sao vấn đề tài trợ

Funding [from the Prevent Cancer Foundation] will provide critical support to advance my research on prostate cancer prevention. The data and studies we produce will allow us to develop innovative strategies for the best methods of effective communication about prostate cancer screening. I hope to generate meaningful data to inform future clinical practices and contribute to reducing the incidence and impact of prostate cancer, ultimately bringing us closer to a future where prostate cancer prevention is prioritized.
