Celebrate the SOUPer Bowl with these staff-favorite recipes

The Big Game is traditionally thought of as a time to enjoy snacks and appetizers, or perhaps pizza and wings, with friends and family. But if you’re looking to shake it up this year, and maybe try something a little healthier, might we suggest a SOUPer Bowl Party?

It’s the perfect time of year for soup, which is easy to prep and cook ahead of time so everyone can enjoy the game. Plus, you can sneak in lots of vegetables, legumes and whole grains, key ingredients for a healthy diet to reduce your risk of cancer. Here are some favorite soup recipes from the Prevent Cancer Foundation staff.

Baked potato soup

No one will notice that cauliflower replaces some of the potato, making this a healthier version of a favorite soup.

Lemony chickpea soup

One way to reduce your risk of cancer is to eat a plant-based diet, and chickpeas are a great protein source when you’re limiting your meat intake.

Chili is always a crowd favorite so it’s perfect for the Super Bowl. And it can be healthy, especially when packed with beans, vegetables and lean ground turkey.
