Alexandria, Va. — The Prevent Cancer Foundation® is proud to announce the launch of the Prevent Cancer Community Exchange, a new initiative to bring together organizations working at the community level to advance cancer prevention, early detection and vaccination efforts across the United States. Members receive exclusive access to an online platform to connect with one another, share resources, have discussions, and attend trainings and events.

The Community Exchange provides a dedicated network for anyone affiliated with a community-based or public health organization, academic institution, health care system or other related field to come together and propel their work in cancer prevention and early detection.

The Foundation’s longstanding partnership across the U.S. revealed a need for more resources, support and connections for community organizations, especially those in under-resourced communities. To meet these needs, the Community Exchange enables peer-to-peer connections, facilitates knowledge exchange through multiple outlets, provides ongoing access to educational resources and extends the reach of advocacy efforts.

“Our community partners are doing great work at the local level to advance cancer prevention and early detection,” Jody Hoyos, Foundation CEO, said. “The Community Exchange is designed to amplify their efforts by providing a space where collaboration and sharing knowledge can thrive—leading to a greater reach and impact across communities.”

The Community Exchange has developed in partnership with the Community Exchange Advisory Committee (CEAC), a group of dedicated advocates who provide strategic guidance around the growth and direction of the Community Exchange.

“The Community Exchange is a space where advocacy meets imagination. I’m excited to connect with others who are committed to trauma-informed innovation, collaborative learning, and community-rooted change. This platform helps us bundle our experiences into action and build something lasting together,” Cassenda Nelson, CEAC member and community health worker at Horizons Community Solutions, said.

Community Exchange members are invited to participate in and share their own virtual and in-person trainings and events designed to strengthen cancer prevention and early detection efforts and community-level work.

Through the Community Exchange, community members will continue to receive the resources and support they need to succeed, while also extending and leveraging their reach to advance cancer prevention and early detection in areas of high need across the country.
