So, we are all rather preoccupied lately. Work is demanding; there never seems to be enough hours in the day to get everything done. We are planning for last minute vacations before the weather turns colder. We are getting the kids ready to go back to school. We are eagerly anticipating the start of football season…
There are a million things on our daily “to do” lists that distract us from the urgency of taking the time to make a donation to the Prevent Cancer Foundation 5K, but let me tell you why your gift to cancer prevention is important to me.

I wish I could introduce you to my sister, Sara. She was always smiling- everyone was her friend and she was so full of life. At 16 years old she was diagnosed with the most advanced stage of cancer. After a valiant year-long battle, she died. Cancer prevention and early detection is important to me because it could have saved her life. It still can save your life, or the life of a loved one.
The Prevent Cancer Foundation focuses on vital cancer prevention research, education and outreach programming. I like to think that I’m doing my part to help stop cancer before it starts so that it does not have the opportunity to take another loved one from me. I have made my donation to “Team Celebrate” for the Prevent Cancer Foundation 5K in Sara’s memory and other family members who have been affected by this terrible disease. I am taking steps to save lives, and I need your help.

Consider making a gift of any amount in memory or honor of your loved one, or in support of someone participating in the 5K. Just a few minutes of your time can make a huge impact. I know that I am not alone in experiencing the devastating feeling of vulnerability in the face of a loved one’s suffering. And I know that I am not alone in fighting back and giving to a cause that can change that!
