ACS provides support programs for colorectal cancer patients, including “I Can Cope” and “Look Good…Feel Better.” “I Can Cope” is a patient-education program that is designed to help patients, families and friends cope with the day-to-day issues of living with cancer. “Look Good…Feel Better,” focuses on techniques that can help people undergoing cancer treatment improve their appearance.

Cancer Care provides free, professional assistance to people with any type of cancer, at any stage of illness in addition to assistance to their families. Offerings include education, one-on-one counseling, specialized support groups, financial assistance for nonmedical expenses, home visits by trained volunteers and referrals to community services. Staff can respond to Spanish-language calls and e-mails, and some Cancer Care publications are available in Spanish.

The Colon Cancer Alliance Web site presents a collection of stories in which people touched by colorectal cancer: colorectal cancer survivors, individuals who are gene carriers and caregivers. The CCA Buddies Program is a peer-to-peer support system that links survivors with survivors and caregivers with caregivers, for one-on-one support. CCA’s Buddy Program is currently available through the Web site. CCA online chat sessions offer group support in an online environment.
