Breakaway from Cancer

Posted By mar2 On May 16, 2011 @ 2:34 pm In | No Comments

Breakaway from Cancer [1] aims to raise awareness of the comprehensive continuum of resources available to cancer patients – from prevention to education and patient care to advocacy and financial support. The Breakaway from Cancer charitable partners include the Prevent Cancer Foundation, Cancer Support Community [2]Patient Advocate Foundation [3], and the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship [4].

Originally, the campaign was created by Amgen to be a complimentary component to the Amgen Tour of California (ATOC), the largest professional cycling race in the United States. Breakaway from Cancer remains a central focus of the ATOC each year. It has expanded to support cycling and wellness events around the country and on Capitol Hill, bringing the campaign’s reach out of California and across the county.

The Prevent Cancer Foundation focuses our efforts within the Breakaway from Cancer campaign on educating the public and opinion leaders across the country about cancer prevention, risk reduction and early detection, and the resources that our Foundation can provide. For more information on current campaign activities, visit www.breakawayfromcancer.com [5].
