Prevent Cancer Foundation Honors Members of Congress for Cancer Prevention Efforts
ALEXANDRIA, VA — As part of its 25th Anniversary celebration, the Prevent Cancer Foundation has recognized 33 members of Congress as Prevention Champions for their outstanding work in cancer prevention. The Award recognizes lawmakers for their consistent and steadfast leadership in support for cancer research access, primary prevention and awareness.
“The Prevent Cancer Foundation has been privileged to work with many champions on Capitol Hill to further policy that supports cancer prevention, research and screening,” said Lisa Hughes senior director, Policy and Advocacy for the Foundation. “As the Foundation moves into its next 25 years, we look forward to continued relationships with these honorees.”

The honorees were selected on several criteria including:
consistent support for issues of importance in cancer prevention and overall cancer care ( areas of support may include funding, research, access, primary prevention and education)
survivor or caregiver that has used his/her platform to educate the public about issues in cancer prevention
supporter through participation in fundraising or awareness events.
The Prevent Cancer Foundation is celebrating 25 years of progress through prevention and is a catalyst for promoting cancer awareness. The Foundation provides early detection strategies, screening guidelines and ways to reduce cancer risk through healthy lifestyle choices.
