Foundation Overview

The Prevent Cancer Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, was founded in 1985 by Carolyn Aldigé, in memory of her father who died of cancer one year earlier. Since that time, the Foundation has fulfilled its mission of empowering people to stay ahead of cancer through prevention and early detection through our four areas:

Research
The Foundation helps increase insight into the disease by funding innovative research that allows us to understand how to prevent cancer or detect it early when it can be more successfully treated.

Education
We educate the public about how to prevent cancer and detect it early through healthy lifestyle choices and medical screenings through our many programs and materials.

Outreach
Our many community outreach programs allow us to fund nationally and act locally.

Advocacy
The Foundation engages lawmakers through education and advocacy to promote the enactment of laws that support cancer research and prevention.

The Prevent Cancer Foundation envisions a future where cancer incidence and mortality will be significantly reduced through preventive measures. Over the years we have invested nearly $142 million in research, education, advocacy and community outreach programs in support of our mission of saving lives through cancer prevention and early detection. We have played a pivotal role in developing a body of knowledge that is the basis for important prevention and early detection strategies.
