(Alexandria, Va.)-The Prevent Cancer Foundation is pleased to welcome Rachel Brem, M.D. and Derek Huffman, Ph.D. to its Medical Advisory Board. Prevent Cancer’s Medical Advisory Board works to update and review important information related to cancer prevention and early detection that is shared with the public.

Dr. Brem is Director of Breast Imaging and Intervention at George Washington University Medical Center and Vice Chair of the Department of Radiology. Her research and clinical interests include minimally invasive breast biopsy and new technologies for the earlier diagnosis of breast cancer, including computer aided detection, molecular imaging and magnetic resonance imaging.

“I am excited to use my background in the early detection of breast cancer to assist the Prevent Cancer Foundation in sharing information that could save lives,” said Dr. Brem.

Dr. Huffman is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Molecular Pharmacology, Co-Director of the Einstein Healthy Aging Physiology Core, and a member of the Einstein Aging Center, Cancer Center and Diabetes Research Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His research focuses on the biology of aging, central insulin and IGF-1 signaling and the role of obesity and aging on cancer risk.

Dr. Huffman was a 2009 Prevent Cancer research fellowship recipient. “Prevent Cancer helped me further my research,” said Dr. Huffman, “and I look forward to playing a part in the important work the Foundation does by offering my professional opinion on developments in cancer detection and prevention.”

“We are pleased to welcome Drs. Brem and Huffman to the Medical Advisory Board, a group that is essential in achieving our vision to Stop Cancer Before It Starts!” said Carolyn “Bo” Aldigé, President and Founder of the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

The Medical Advisory Board includes 50 additional leaders from the medical community.
