The Prevent Cancer Foundation benefits from local fundraising events across the country. From golf tournaments and jewelry sales, to car shows and road races, your friends and neighbors are raising thousands of dollars for cancer prevention. You can too!
Five steps for planning your own community fundraising event:
- Form a planning committee. Select family, friends and colleagues who will best share the responsibility of planning and executing a fun event. Your committee will be the key to setting goals, brainstorming ideas and marketing the event to the appropriate audiences.
- Create a budget. Identify possible sources of revenue and expenses. Keep costs down to generate larger donations. Consider opening a bank account in the name of the event.
- Promotion and publicity. Use all available resources for promoting your event – e-mail, personal Web sites, blogs, phone, mail, and flyers. Note: The Prevent Cancer Foundation logo is a registered trademark. All uses of the logo must be approved in advance.
- Collect the funds. The sooner you forward funds to the Prevent Cancer Foundation the sooner they help our cancer prevention research, education and community outreach programs.
- Say thank you. Acknowledge everyone who participated in or supported your activity and let them know how much you appreciated their help.
