I recently had the opportunity to attend my first Zumba class at Ballston Common Sport & Health in Arlington, VA and I had such a wonderful experience! I’m not the kind of person who goes to the gym regularly or goes running in my neighborhood, but I know that regular exercise is important to stay healthy and to help prevent cancer. Since I love to dance, Zumba was a perfect activity for me to try because it involves both dancing and exercising.
Zumba is a dance fitness program with Latin-inspired music and choreography. It includes elements of salsa, hip hop, merengue and many other types of dance. It’s easy to follow, fun to learn and it burns a lot of calories! My class instructors, Jose and Elena, were so full of energy and so clear with their directions of where to go and how to move. Even though it was only my first class, I was able to learn the moves and keep up the pace.
I definitely recommend Zumba to anyone with a passion for dancing, Latin music or fun ways to exercise. Check out my video to see my first Zumba class experience!
