Prevent Cancer Foundation's Childhood Obesity Infographic

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), childhood obesity has more than tripled in the past 30 years. The long-term health effects of childhood obesity are staggering. Later in life, obese or overweight children have an increased risk of several types of cancer, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and osteoarthritis. Prevention of obesity through healthy lifestyle choices is key to rolling back this serious threat to children and their parents. To mark National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, the Prevent Cancer Foundation has designed this infographic that details the dangers of obesity and provides ways that parents and children can lead happy and healthy lives.

  1. The percentage of youngsters aged 6– 11 years in the Usa who were obese improved from 7 % in 1980 to nearly 18 % in 2010. Similarly, the portion of adolescents matured 12– 19 years who were overweight enhanced from 5 % to 18 % over the exact same duration.
