BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH

ACCELERATING BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH ACT (S. 318/H.R. 531)

A bill to prioritize funding for the National Institutes of Health to discover treatments and cures, to maintain global leadership in medical innovation, and to restore the purchasing power the NIH had after the historic doubling campaign that ended in fiscal year 2003.

AMERICAN CURES ACT (S. 289)

A bill to prioritize funding for an expanded and sustained national investment in biomedical research.

REMOVING BARRIERS TO COLORECTAL CANCER SCREENING ACT (S. 624/HR 1220)
Sponsor: Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) & Representative Charlie Dent (R-PA)
A bill to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to waive coinsurance under Medicare for colorectal cancer screening tests, regardless of whether therapeutic intervention is required during the screening.

The Cancer Patient and Protection Act of 2015 (H.R. 1416)
Sponsor: Representative Renee Elmers (R-NC) and Representative Steve Israel (D-NY)
A bill to prevent application of sequestration to payment for certain physician-administered drugs under part B of the Medicare program in fiscal years 2016 and 2017, and for other purposes.

Breast Density and Mammography Reporting Act of 2015 (S. 370/ H.R. 716)
Sponsor: Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Representative Rosa DeLauro (D-CT)
A bill to require breast density reporting to physicians and patients by facilities that perform mammograms, and for other purposes.

Viral Hepatitis Testing Act (H.R. 1101)
Sponsor: Representative Brett Guthrie (R-KY)
A bill to amend the Public Health Service Act to revise and extend the program for viral hepatitis surveillance, education, and testing in order to prevent deaths from chronic liver disease and liver cancer, and for other purposes.

NUTRITION & WELLNESS

School Food Modernization Act (S. 540)
Sponsors: Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) and Senator Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND)
A bill to amend the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act to require the Secretary of Agriculture to make loan guarantees and grants to finance certain improvements to school lunch facilities, to train school food service personnel, and for other purposes.

SWEET Act (H.R.1687)
Sponsor: Representative Rosa DeLauro (D-CT)
A bill to a amend the Internal Revenue code of 1986 to impose an excise tax on sugar-sweetened beverages, to dedicate the revenues from such tax to the prevention, treatment, and research of diet-related health conditions in priority populations, and for other purposes.

ENRICH Act (H.R. 1411)
Sponsor: Representative Tim Ryan (D-OH)
A bill to provide for a grants program to develop and enhance integrated nutrition and physical activity curricula in medical schools.
