As part of its 25th Anniversary celebration, the Foundation has recognized 33 members of Congress as Prevention Champions for their outstanding work in cancer prevention. The Award recognizes lawmakers for their catalysts in cancer prevention: consistent and steadfast leadership in support for cancer research and awareness.
The Foundation considers it a privilege to work with so many on Capitol Hill to further policy that supports cancer prevention – and we hope to continue that work into the next 25 years.
The honorees were selected on several criteria including:
- Consistent support for issues of importance in cancer prevention and overall cancer care (areas of support may include funding, research, access, primary prevention and education).
- Survivor of caregiver that has used his/her platform to educate the public about issues in cancer prevention.
- Supporter through participation in fundraising or awareness events.
